Outlaws Burgers and Fries entered the Novemburger campaign with the mozza melt.
It consists of a freshly pressed 4 oz beef patty topped with a hand-breaded deep fried mozzarella slice. That's topped with bacon, heaped with caramelized onions, and smeared with garlic aioli. All served on a brioche bun.
The deep fried cheese is essentially a giant mozzarella stick, and putting it on a burger is a stroke of brilliance.
The 'mozza stick patty', as I call it, made the burger very unique and added great flavour.
And that cheese pull is unmatched.
My only complaint would be the amount of caramelized onions, it was too much for my taste. However, this burger would be an onion-lovers dream.
The mozza melt goes for $14.95 before tax and tip, with $2 going to the United way of Thunder Bay.
Outlaw Burger and Fries is locaed at 801 Central Ave.
